Welcome 2016! Haulover Inlet Sunrise (Day 1/366 - Photo 1)

I decided to embark on another photographic journey, and this time I'm starting with the calendar year. I'm praying for the endurance make it as successful as my last. I'm hoping to discover new techniques, locations, and ideas, while networking with others. I give you this year's first photo, the first sunrise of 2016, taken at the Haulover Inlet. I hustled out of the house this morning, after brief nap, to catch the first sunrise of the new year with some other very passionate and sleep deprived photographers.

On this day, I give you a self-portrait. As part of this year's project I'll be experimenting more with my speed lights and light modifiers. I'm hoping to find other willing subjects to help on this challenge. Otherwise, there will be more selfies in store for you guys :-)

  • Here Comes the Sun (Day 10/366)

Here Comes the Sun (Day 10/366)

I found myself hustling to get to beach on time to see the sun crest on the horizon. As I looked ahead I saw the heavy cloud cover low on the horizon. Simultaneously heard the water lapping on the rocks that lined the walkway to the beach. I slowed my stride and took a deep breath of sea air, while reminding myself to enjoy this experience. By the time I reached the sand my pace was a quarter of what it was when I first left my car. And then I waited. I waited for this. Happy Sunday.

  • Stars (Day 11/366)

    Stars (Day 11/366)

"I think that we are like stars. Something happens to burst us open; but when we burst open and think we are dying; we’re actually turning into a supernova. And then when we look at ourselves again, we see that we’re suddenly more beautiful than we ever were before!" C. JoyBell C.

    Waking (Day 16/366 - Photo 2)

The fog was thick and heavy, as it challenged the sun to wake us on the misty South Florida morning. Deviating from my landscape norm, I chose to use a shallower depth of field. That combined with the fog helped to give this image a dreamy, soft appearance. Let's see what mother nature has in store for us tomorrow.
