A crescent moon trailed the sun this particular evening.
We were watching the sun kiss the buttes; it sank a little lower, and then the light changed.
On my last day in the Canyon I headed out to Yavapai Point for the sunrise. I was very startled to find elk roaming around the area in the darkness. I was quickly joined by many Canyon visitors who were also anxious to see the spectacle that is a sunrise in the Grand Canyon. It was a spectacle, and we all observed it in reverent silence.
